General Questions

What is PerpsTracker?

PerpsTracker is a comprehensive analytics platform for tracking perpetual futures traders on Jupiter Exchange. We provide real-time leaderboards, live trade feeds, detailed trader profiles, and performance metrics to help you learn from top traders and make informed decisions.

Our platform aggregates data directly from the Solana blockchain, analyzes trading patterns, and presents insights in an easy-to-understand format suitable for traders of all experience levels.

Is PerpsTracker free to use?

Yes! PerpsTracker offers a free tier with access to core features including:

  • View top 50 traders
  • 24-hour timeframe data
  • Basic leaderboard access
  • Limited live trades feed

For advanced features like unlimited trader results, all timeframes, advanced filtering, and CSV export, we offer Pro ($49/month) and Elite ($199/month) plans. See our pricing page for details.

How is the data collected?

PerpsTracker connects directly to Solana RPC nodes to monitor Jupiter Exchange perpetual futures contracts in real-time. We parse all relevant transactions, extract trading data, calculate performance metrics, and store it in our database for fast querying.

All data is publicly available on the blockchain - we simply aggregate and analyze it to provide meaningful insights. Updates happen in real-time as new transactions are confirmed on the Solana network.

How often is data updated?

All data is updated in real-time:

  • Live Trades: Updated within seconds of blockchain confirmation
  • Leaderboards: Recalculated every 5 minutes
  • Trader Profiles: Stats updated with each new trade
  • Performance Metrics: Calculated in real-time

The Live Trades page offers an auto-refresh feature that updates automatically at your chosen interval (1s, 5s, 10s, 30s, or 60s).

Features & Functionality

What is the "Most Consistent Traders" feature?

The "Most Consistent Traders" section on the Overview page shows traders who appear in ALL timeframes (24h, 7d, 30d, and 365d leaderboards). This is significant because it indicates:

  • Sustained skill rather than short-term luck
  • Ability to adapt to different market conditions
  • Consistent risk management practices
  • Reliable trading strategies

These traders represent the most reliable performers to study and learn from.

How do the rank filters work on Live Trades?

The rank filtering system allows you to focus on trades from top-performing traders. Here's how it works:

  1. Select a Leaderboard: Choose which timeframe's rankings to use (24h, 7d, 30d, or 365d)
  2. Select a Rank: Choose how many top traders to include (Top 10, 50, 100, 250, or All)
  3. Filter Applied: The feed shows ONLY trades from traders who rank in your selected criteria

For example, selecting "24 Hours" leaderboard + "Top 10" will show only trades from the 10 best daily performers. The statistics (Total Trades, Longs, Shorts, Active Traders) update to reflect only the filtered data.

Can I track specific traders?

Yes! Click on any wallet address throughout the site to view that trader's detailed profile. The profile includes:

  • Performance across all timeframes
  • Rankings in each leaderboard
  • Comprehensive statistics (win rate, ROI, Sharpe ratio, etc.)
  • Complete trading history
  • Position sizing patterns

Elite users can also set up custom alerts to get notified whenever specific traders make moves.

What does the timeframe filter on Live Trades do?

The timeframe filter controls how recent the displayed trades are. Options include:

  • Last 5 minutes: Most recent activity only
  • Last 30 minutes: Short-term view
  • Last 1 hour: Recent trading session
  • Last 4 hours: Several trading sessions
  • Last 12 hours: Half-day view
  • Last 24 hours: Full day of activity (default)

This is different from the "From Leaderboard" filter. The timeframe filter controls WHEN trades occurred, while the leaderboard filter controls WHOSE trades are shown.

Can I export data?

Pro and Elite users can export data to CSV format from:

  • Leaderboards (all timeframes)
  • Trader profiles (individual trading history)
  • Live trades feed (filtered or unfiltered)

Elite users additionally get full API access for programmatic data retrieval and can export historical data going back months.

How does the Compare Traders feature work?

The Compare Traders feature (Pro/Elite) lets you analyze up to 5 traders side-by-side with 9 interactive charts:

  • PnL Comparison: Compare total profit/loss across traders
  • Win Rate Analysis: See how consistent each trader is
  • ROI Breakdown: Evaluate capital efficiency
  • Sharpe Ratio: Risk-adjusted performance comparison
  • Trade Count: Activity level comparison
  • Volume Analysis: Trading volume by trader
  • Avg Trade Size: Position sizing patterns
  • Leverage Usage: Risk exposure comparison
  • Performance Radar: Multi-metric overview

Access Compare Traders from the Platform menu or add traders directly from leaderboards and profiles.

What is the Watchlist feature?

The Watchlist is an Elite-only feature that lets you save and track your favorite traders:

  • Save Traders: Add any trader to your personal watchlist
  • Custom Notes: Add private notes about why you're tracking them
  • Quick Access: View all your saved traders in one place
  • Easy Management: Remove traders when no longer needed

Add traders to your watchlist from leaderboards, search results, or trader profiles by clicking the star icon. Your watchlist syncs across all devices.

Understanding Metrics

What is Sharpe Ratio and why does it matter?

Sharpe Ratio measures risk-adjusted returns - essentially, how much return a trader earns per unit of risk taken. It's calculated as: (Average Return - Risk-Free Rate) / Standard Deviation of Returns.

Why it matters:

  • A trader with $100k PnL but terrible Sharpe ratio took excessive risk
  • A trader with $50k PnL and high Sharpe ratio achieved sustainable returns
  • Higher Sharpe ratio = more consistent, less volatile returns

Interpreting values:

  • Above 2.0: Excellent (2x return per unit of risk)
  • 1.0-2.0: Good risk-adjusted returns
  • Below 1.0: Poor risk-adjusted returns
Why would a trader with lower PnL rank higher?

Rankings consider multiple factors beyond just PnL:

  • Win Rate: Consistency matters
  • ROI: Efficiency of capital usage
  • Sharpe Ratio: Risk-adjusted performance
  • Volume: Activity level
  • Trade Count: Number of opportunities taken

Example: Trader A makes $10k with 80% win rate, 2.5 Sharpe, and 5x leverage. Trader B makes $15k with 45% win rate, 0.8 Sharpe, and 25x leverage. Trader A likely ranks higher due to sustainable, risk-managed approach.

What's a good win rate?

Win rate interpretation depends on trading style:

  • Above 60%: Excellent - very selective or highly skilled
  • 50-60%: Good - positive edge with discipline
  • 40-50%: Acceptable IF winners are significantly larger than losers
  • Below 40%: Concerning - likely unsustainable unless using asymmetric strategy

Important: Win rate alone doesn't determine profitability. A 40% win rate can be highly profitable if winners are 3x the size of losers. Always look at win rate in combination with ROI and Sharpe ratio.

How is ROI calculated?

ROI (Return on Investment) is calculated as:

ROI = (Total PnL / Total Collateral Used) × 100

This shows how efficiently a trader uses their capital. For example:

  • Trader uses $10k collateral and makes $4k profit = 40% ROI
  • Same profit with $20k collateral = 20% ROI (less efficient)

Higher ROI indicates better capital efficiency, but consider it alongside risk metrics like Sharpe ratio and leverage used.

What leverage levels are considered safe?

Leverage interpretation:

  • 1-5x: Conservative - suitable for most traders
  • 5-10x: Moderate - requires good risk management
  • 10-20x: Aggressive - for experienced traders only
  • Above 20x: Extremely risky - high liquidation risk

Important: There's no universally "safe" leverage. It depends on:

  • Account size and risk tolerance
  • Market volatility
  • Position sizing relative to portfolio
  • Stop loss placement

Study how top traders use leverage across different market conditions to learn effective practices.

What are the API rate limits?

Elite API rate limits:

  • Leaderboard queries: 100 requests/minute (burst: 150)
  • Live trades: 200 requests/minute (burst: 300)
  • Trader profiles: 150 requests/minute (burst: 200)
  • Historical data: 50 requests/minute (burst: 75)

Burst limits allow temporary spikes above the sustained rate. If you consistently need higher limits, contact your account manager to discuss custom Elite plans.

How do custom alerts work?

Elite users can set up custom alerts based on various conditions:

Alert Types:

  • Trade Alerts: Get notified when specific traders open/close positions
  • Leaderboard Alerts: Track when traders enter/exit top rankings
  • Performance Alerts: Monitor when metrics cross thresholds

Conditions You Can Set:

  • Specific wallet addresses to track
  • Minimum position size (e.g., trades over $50k)
  • Leverage thresholds (e.g., positions using 10x+ leverage)
  • Specific tokens (e.g., only SOL or BTC trades)
  • Rank changes (e.g., trader moves into top 10)

Alerts can be delivered via email, webhook, or Telegram.

How do I set up Telegram alerts?

Setting up Telegram notifications is simple:

  1. Open Telegram and search for @PerpsTrackerBot
  2. Start a conversation with the bot
  3. Send the command: /connect YOUR_API_KEY
  4. The bot will confirm connection
  5. Configure alerts via dashboard or API
  6. Enable Telegram delivery for your alerts

You'll receive instant notifications in Telegram whenever your alert conditions are met. You can manage alert settings through the dashboard or programmatically via the API.

Can I use webhooks instead of Telegram?

Yes! Elite users can set up webhooks to receive alerts at their own server endpoints. This is ideal for:

  • Building custom trading bots
  • Integrating with existing systems
  • Creating custom notification workflows
  • Storing alert history in your database

Webhooks send POST requests with JSON payloads to your specified URL whenever alert conditions trigger. See the API documentation for webhook setup and payload examples.

Trading & Strategy

Should I copy trades from top traders?

We do not recommend blindly copying trades. Here's why:

  • Top traders may have different account sizes and risk tolerance
  • You may enter at different prices due to timing delays
  • You don't know their exit strategy or stop losses
  • They may be hedging positions you can't see
  • Different trading experience and psychology

Better approach:

  • Study patterns in their trading behavior
  • Learn from their position sizing
  • Understand their leverage usage
  • Observe how they manage risk
  • Use insights to develop YOUR own strategy

PerpsTracker is an educational tool, not a trading signal service.

What can I learn from tracking top traders?

Studying top traders can teach you:

  • Position Sizing: How they allocate capital relative to account size
  • Leverage Usage: When they use high vs. low leverage
  • Market Timing: When they're active (trending vs. ranging markets)
  • Asset Selection: Which tokens they trade most successfully
  • Risk Management: How they limit downside through position sizing
  • Consistency: Whether they trade frequently or selectively
  • Adaptability: How they adjust to changing market conditions

Focus on traders who appear in multiple timeframes (especially the "Most Consistent Traders") as they demonstrate sustainable skills.

How do I identify skilled traders vs lucky ones?

Look for these signs of genuine skill:

  • Cross-Timeframe Performance: Appear in 7d, 30d, and 365d boards (not just 24h)
  • High Sharpe Ratio: Above 1.5-2.0 indicates risk-managed success
  • Consistent Win Rate: Sustained above 55-60%
  • Reasonable Leverage: Not using extreme leverage (20x+) constantly
  • High Trade Count: Many trades show they can repeat success
  • Stable Performance: No extreme volatility in daily returns

Warning signs of luck:

  • Only appears in 24h board
  • Low trade count (under 20)
  • Very high leverage on all trades
  • Low Sharpe ratio despite high PnL

Technical Questions

Why is my browser showing different times than displayed?

PerpsTracker automatically displays all timestamps in YOUR browser's local timezone. The same trade may show different times for users in different time zones.

For example:

  • User in New York sees: "Nov 14, 10:30 AM"
  • User in London sees: "Nov 14, 3:30 PM"
  • User in Tokyo sees: "Nov 15, 12:30 AM"

This is intentional to make the data more relevant to your local context.

Why don't I see some traders I know about?

There are several possible reasons:

  • Free plan limitations: Free users only see top 50 traders. Upgrade to Pro/Elite for unlimited access
  • Different timeframe: A trader might rank in 30d but not 24h. Check all timeframes
  • Below display threshold: If showing "Top 100" and they're ranked 150, increase the display count
  • Inactive period: No recent trades in the selected timeframe
  • Minimum threshold: Very small accounts may not meet minimum volume requirements

Try searching for their wallet address directly (Pro/Elite feature) or checking the full, unsorted leaderboard.

Can I verify the data on the blockchain?

Absolutely! All data on PerpsTracker comes from the public Solana blockchain. To verify:

  1. Click any transaction signature on the Live Trades page
  2. You'll be taken to Solscan or Solana Explorer
  3. View the full on-chain transaction details
  4. Verify amounts, timestamps, and wallet addresses

You can also paste any wallet address into Solscan to see their complete trading history. PerpsTracker simply aggregates, analyzes, and presents this public data in a user-friendly format.

Is my data/browsing private?

Yes, completely. PerpsTracker does not:

  • Track which traders you view
  • Share your browsing behavior
  • Connect your wallet to your browsing
  • Sell any user data

We only collect:

  • Anonymous analytics (page views, feature usage)
  • Subscription information (for paying users)
  • API usage logs (for rate limiting)

All trading data displayed is already public on the blockchain. We don't add any private tracking to it.
